Just buy them already!!

After spending about a month researching almost every pair of riding boots imaginable, I finally decided upon the Frye Jane strappy knee high boot in tan. They were quite a bit out of my initial price range, but they were love at first sight, and just had to be on my feet! They are the most beautiful and well constructed boots I have ever owned, and don't regret the hefty price tag at all. The tan color is a gorgeous whisky, and the fit is definitely slouchy rather than stiff. I have been wearing them with both skinny and boot cut jeans tucked in as well as with dresses. They are a little loose with just tights on, but still comfortable. If you are looking for an all around beautifully constructed, comfortable, and goes with anything boot, then buy these today!!

Sizing issues

This is a very comfortably padded and sturdy boot that you will love if you can get your correct size. I am a 6 1/2 - 7 normally. I ordered the charcoal in a6 1/2 which was way too long in the foot but perfect in the calf. Plenty of room for jeans tucked in and a wonderful soft pebbled leather that was smooth to the touch. I was thrilled but I couldn't find a 6 in the same color. I went with a 6 in tan from shoe parlor. The sizing in the foot was much better but the calf is to tight to pull over jeans. Also, as you pull them up this greasy tan residue rubs off the boot onto your hands. I didn't notice the boot's color suffering from it. But it's still a nuisance. So I definitely do not recommend the tan boot. Also, shoe parlor makes you pay to ship the item back, which is not cool when your business is one that sells items to be tried on. If I was basing the review solely on the charcoal boot I would have given it 5 stars even though they run large. For reference I am 5'1" the height is just below my knee, there is some slouch to the boot. My calves are 14 1/2" around. The boot should be tight in the foot, as the leather will stretch some. I have the Melissa too (6 1/2 was perfect- tight) which is super comfy in the foot but the shaft never did stretch enough to get over my jeans. Leather boots will give some but not like an inch or anything so make sure that you get the sizing right in the first place!
Update: In light of the issue with the color rubbing off, shoe parlor refunded my shipping when I contacted them to ask them about it.

Love these boots but the sizing is WAY off!

In researching these boots I looked at reviews on both Amazon and Zappos. The reviews I read seemed to lean towards the boots running large, however some said they are true to size. I am normally a 7-7.5 so I ordered both, figuring one would fit. Neither fit and my heel slipped significantly in both. Some people suggested that the heel slip would stop once they break in but given the price of the boot, I wasn't willing to risk ending up with boots that didn't fit. I then ordered a 6.5 and they fit much better. They don't fit perfectly but closer than the other two and am hoping they do break in well. My recommendation is order a half size to a size down. Thick socks and inserts did not change the fact that my heel slipped and it doesn't in the 6.5. Other than my frustration with the sizing, they are absolutely beautiful and very well made.
