After a lot of agonizing, I decided to order the 8R instead of the 12R harness boot. I wanted something I could wear every day with jeans, and just slip in and out of. They are great. I love the vintage finish, and the way they look. They are a little stiff, and I am hoping they will loosen up a bit with time. I met a woman the other day with the same boots, and she said she's had hers for 4 years. They looked to still be in perfect shape. I sized down a half size. Normally I wear and 8, but I got a 7.5 and I'm glad I did. They fit perfectly.

Be careful with size!

They are excellent boots with no doubts, nice leather, perfect craftmanship.
I'm 5"11' and usually wearing a 10 and I have a somewhat wider foot, but with this boot I have no chance to get even in (I ordered a 10 after reading other reviews about them running large). They are VERY narrow and their cut is rather small than large.

A bit about sizing

I love these boots, but unfortunately, my feet don't. I tried both the 6.5 and the 7 (I am normally a 7, slightly wide at the toes), and finally the 7.5. The 6.5 looked best and fit perfectly in length, but the toe box was just too small. I'd suggest that people with narrower feet can size down 1/2 size for length, but if you have anything that remotely resembles larger than a B-width, order your normal size, or even a half-size up. The length will seem awkward at first, because of the square toe, but all square-toe boots are like that.
These boots really are made for people with a narrow to average forefoot. The engineer, while lacking the harness, is a good alternative for those of us who need the wiggle-room in the toe area.
