Cried all the way to the Post Office!!

I know when I am about to make an online purchase, especially if it is expensive boots like these, I always must read the reviews. Unfortunately, when I purchased these there were no reviews yet, but they were so gorgeous I couldn't resist (first mistake). So, I feel compelled to give you my experience to help you make your decision. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I must say these Lindsay Logo Zip Fryes are the most beautiful boots I have ever seen in person. I bought the tan and the color looked like a beautiful piece of oak stained furniture, absolutely regal and beautiful, like a work of art, which is why I cried as I packaged them up to send back. I hear this so many times and I don't understand why Frye doesn't want money from those of us with larger calves. And honestly, I am not a large person, I am 5'7, wear an 8-10 in clothes and an 8.5 shoe, with alas 15 inch calves. The foot fit great, maybe a tad long, but the issue was the calf and the back zipper. I literally ripped up my fingers trying to pull this zipper up. At first, it wasn't a size issue because I have relatively small ankles (7-8 inches), the zipper is just very hard to get started, then the calf was way too tight. And, what made matters worse, since I could find now reviews for this style, I called the Frye Company and asked specifically about this boot and they said in a size 8.5 the calf should be 15-16 inches, NOT! NO ONE seems to really know for sure the circumference of the different styles and sizes of these boots, so it is always hit or miss. These were 14 inches around the top at best. I got them zipped but with major pain and now blood blisters on my fingers. So, I took them to a cobbler, like many people say they do to get their Fryes stretched, but he wouldn't risk it with the zipper and gorgeous laser cut logo. Now maybe he was being too safe, but I decided I had to give them up! The cobbler even said they were the most beautiful boots HE had ever seen! So, we both had a good cry. If you have under 14 inch calves, please buy these and wear them proudly for all of us who cannot! All I can hope is that Frye will eventually see the money they are losing by not making more boots with a larger calf, but since they've been around 100 years or something, it's doubtful that will happen. I honestly think a 14-15 inch calf is a very average and normal size for us good ole American girls, who can kick it, using our muscular and I must say sexy legs. Amazon is great, I think they are one of the best online sites, with definitely THE BEST prices! It makes finding the right style of Frye boot easier, and that is the key. Frye boots are gorgeous, and honestly worth the price, you just have to find the right ones for your feet.

Impossible zippers

These boots are made of gorgeous leather and beautifully crafted but the zippers are absolutely defective! I had to return them with the left boot unzipped. After 15 minutes of struggling hard with it, I gave up. The right boot's zipper is so stiff, I barely got it down and back up one time. The zippers are metal and sharp on the fingers. At the same time, I ordered the Frye Back Zip Riding Boot. While these Lindsay boots are made in Mexico, the Back Zip Riding Boot is made in Spain. The leather is the same quality, but the zippers are polyester and move like butter. Curiously, the packaging on the Spain-made boots was far superior to the Mexico-made boots (foam inserts vs. a flimsy piece of cardboard and plastic sheaths vs. tissue paper). Although they are more costly, I'm sticking with Frye boots made in Spain after comparing these two pairs. It's astounding to think these Lindsay boots were sent out of the factory without anyone testing the zippers first. They will have to be torn down and zippers replaced. What a shame.

Beautiful!

These boots are beauties! They are a bit tight around the calf but stretched after two wears to perfect! Everywhere I have had perfect strangers ask me about my boots! I treat myself to a new pair of Frye boots every year, soooo worth the price. My sister is 52 and still wears a pair she had in high school! The Quality is unbeatable!
