amazing and beautiful

This is the same review I wrote for Zappos but I bought the boots here...Another review said these were not 16" at the calf. I just measured mine, and they are, so maybe she had a defective pair or something. My calves are about 13" and these fit great. These boots are amazing. Let me say that I, like most people, am very picky when it comes to boots. They are not cheap! And it makes sense to have one awesome pair and not 10 so-so pairs, so I have looked and looked. I had a pair of Frye Dorado Lows that I wore a few times and then sold on eBay - there just was something that I did not like about them. I was also looking at the tall Carson boots, and I like that rugged style and the wearable sole, but these were so pretty and I ordered them instead. I just got them in, put them on and am wearing them around the house. I bought a 10 (I usually wear an 11 in almost all brands) but Frye is known to be a bit large size wise and I knew that the leather would stretch. The pull tabs on the inside of these are very handy and practical, and it was a teeny bit hard to get them on the first time. Once you get your foot in, though, they fit like a dream. So much so that I am thinking maybe my feet have shrunk! The leather is top quality and smells delightful, and these are seriously attractive riding boots. I am not sure how slippery they will be on the bottom so after I wear them for a bit I may have a rubber sole put on. These boots are expensive, no doubt. But they are completely beautiful, fit like a dream and will last me the rest of my life. As in, I will give these to my unborn daughter one day. I usually wear brown leather because I tend to wear all black and I do not like adding black leather to black clothes. These boots have the great combination of being both dark and brown so I can wear them with pretty much anything. I highly recommend if you can afford them! Oh, I am 5'11 and they come a few inches below my knee. If you are really short these might overwhelm you.

I love these boots. The quality is top notch and they are gorgeous to boot. I normally wear a 9 and mine are a little loose. It's nothing that a set of thick socks can't fix though. Also, if you're any shorter than 5'4" just be aware that these might be too tall for you.

Beautiful boot but has minor defects

The boot is exactly what I wanted. It is a beautiful classic boot shape with a narrow toe, low heel and hits just below my knee. However, my legs are slender and the boot has quite a bit of extra space in the calf area. I was disappointed to find a poke in the leather, there was a bloth of lights dye on the dark part of the boot and the dye on the toes don't match in color. Nice boot, but don't expect perfection even at this price.
